MUTHE Show in progress


Mzuzu University TheatreHeights Ensemble (MUTHE) under the auspicies of Population Service International show is in progress. Speeches have already be made and different cultural dances have already taken on stage. PSI presented a presantation on female condoms as well as male condoms. As we went to press 'Love of Honor' play was still in progress..................

Activities for PSI


Mzuzu University TheatreHeights is working on a comedy and a song for Population Service International who will participate during this semesters production.


Beautiful posters for the day have started flying on the campus and one student remarked that he is looking forward to the show just like the poster has been displayed. Rehearsals for the troupe are still crawling but for the play its at an advance stage.


The comedy will feature the likes of Davie Mkandawire, Jean Luhanga, Redson Kambwiri, and Jacob Nthala. A script for the comedy is being worked on and will be sent to PSI as soon as possible.

Population Service International Confirms


Population Service International (PSI) has confirmed its availability during this semester's Mzuzu University TheatreHeights Ensemble production "Love of Honor" slated for October 26 in the Main Hall.


Population Service International will bring a sensitizing talk to the university students who will patronise the event. It is yet to be know in detail as to what PSI will offer in as far as activities are concerned.

MUTHE SECRETARIAT SUMMONS TRUSTEE


Trustee Gift Chingwalu was called to a meeting with the executive yesterday to clarify some issues that zeroed on the administration of the group.


Speaking from his office, Trustee Chingwalu confirmed that he was in possession of an invitation letter signed by MUTHE secretary Naomi Nyasulu but he is not aware of what will be discussed at the meeting as the leeter did not indicate the agenda. He said that he was in the process of ackowledging the invitation and requesting minutes of the MUTHE executive where the decision to summon him was agreed as well as the agenda of the said meeting.

The meeting was held in closed doors and lasted over an hour but both Chingwalu and the executive members who attended the meeting refused to comment on what was discussed at the meeting.
The meeting was attended by President Naomi Banda, Vice President Redson kambwiri, Secretary Naomi Nyasulu, Treasurer Auscar Njikho, Stage Manager Mirriam Mkamanga and Artistic Director Linda Mpando. Jacob Nthala, the Producer is still nursing his ankle and no communication from the Technical Director Omega Zambasa.

Trustee Sydney Ngwira Now Better.........


Trustee Sydney Ngwira who was admitted to St Johns Private Hospital has now been discharged and is at home. This was disclosed to the group after rehearsals by Trustee Gift Chingwalu on Thursday October 9, 2008.


Trustee Sydney Ngwira has been out of MUTHE function this semester and with this good news, it is everyone's expectations to see him on or before the performance on 26th October.


In his appreciation text Trustee Sydney wrote: "Thanks everyone. I am sure u will unleash the same spirit on other collegues with similar predicament. I am ok and at home, thanks."


MUTHE family still wishes him a quick recovery.

REHEARSALS HOT UP!


As the days drew nearer, rehearsals enter its fourth week ahead of the show. The performance that will include a dance troupe will be the firts of its kind to be perfomed in the four corners of the 9 years University Hall.


The student community is still pregnant with expectation for the show which they will part with MK50 to have a glimpse of the elite actors and actresses. The final cast is not yet known but probably the likes of Edwin Kanyemba, Steven Moloseni, Richard Kayenda, Davie Nyirenda, Linda Mpando, Aaron Mwitiya and new faces like Joel Makiyi, Angella Mangulama will definately be the faces to watch come the day.


If Population Service International will spice the day then they will be the second leading organisation in the country to support Mzuzu university TheatreHeights Ensemble (MUTHE) after Celtel's (now Zain) memorable support during the launch of the group on 18th May 2008.

Trustees, Executive meet PSI rep


Mzuzu University TheatreHeights Ensemble(MUTHE) Trustee's and Executive members met Population Service International FP/HIV Coordinator Pamela Msukwa on Thursaday. So far no official statement has come out of this meeting that included Gift Chingwalu (Trustee), Lameck Kaluluma (Trustee), Naomi Banda (President) and Linda Mpando (Artistic Director).


The entire membership of MUTHE is still waiting to hear something from these officers as the group has been following up all correspondances with PSI. Rehearsals for th Oct 26 show are at an advanced stage for both drama and dancing troupe.
