LOVE OF HONOR MUTHE's next semester production

As always our goal is to provide audiences with the very best talent of all levels. To provide comics with a professional and friendly work environment. To provide a place to nurture developing talent. MUTHE returns with a cultural play, Love of Honor next semester. The play will incorporate new and old members of the group and the cultural dances to be performed by MUTHE cultural Troupe. With a membership of close to 60, MUTHE will be out to prove their worth after a grand launch that featured 'True Lies' as their very first. For those who watched True Lies, can really agree with me that it was indeed a play of the semester. 'Love of Honor' will be MUTHE's second to be premiered in the UNiversity Hall.

MUTHE President elected MUSU Secretary

There is alot happening within Mzuzu University TheatreHeights Ensemble. Barerly a week after awarding Steve Moloseni as best actor, Naomi Banda (The lady at the helm of MUTHE) has been elected new MUSU secretary for the academic year 2008/2009.

True Lies goes to St Johns School of Nursing

True Lies, probably Mzuni's play of the Semester by Mzuzu University TheatreHeights Ensemble (MUTHE) was taken to St Johns Scool of Nusing within the outskirts of Mzuzu City. Though the patronage was low, MUTHE gave its few patrons the best of theatre they had anticipated. The cast that included Edwin Kanyemba, Naomi Nyasulu (pictured), Davie Nyirenda, Steve Moloseni, Mirriam Mkamanga, Limbani Banda, Richard Kayenda, Linda Mpando (who replaced Rabecca Tembo), Auscar Njikho, Naomi Banda, Jean Luhanga and Annie Kachali was just marvellous to watch.

This is MUTHE's second perfomance since her launch on 18th May 2008.

MUTHE's Steve Moloseni is Mzuni's Best Actor

Steve Moloseni was voted as Mzuzu University's best actor at the Mzuni awards. He was awarded a certificate as a recognition of his achievement. The award which Steve owed to his girlfriend Evelyn Cheyo, was recieved with Joy in the MUTHE camp. One of the founders of MUTHE, Gift Chingwalu congratulated Steve for his achievement and looks forward to more award in the MUTHE family. Steve has starred in two production so far and was just as witty as his looks.

This is the first award towards MUTHE after Prof Soko launched the theatre group on 18th May 2008.

SUNDAY May 18th, 2008 saw the birth of a new theatre outfit at Mzuzu University, Malawi’s second public University. The group known simply as MUTHE which is acronym for Mzuzu University TheatreHeights Ensemble was officially launched in style by Sir. Boston Soko and Associate Professor Muzipansi Shumba of the deparment of Languages and Literature at a function in the University Hall that was spiced up with several activities that included drama performance by the new theatre group. CELTEL, Malawi’s leading mobile service company sponsored the launch. One of the Trustees, Mr. Sydney Ngwira said that MUTHE is a nonprofit professional theatre group dedicated to presenting the finest works of drama to all audiences, focusing particularly on works rarely or never seen in this region. Our aim is to throw light on the art and culture of diverse nations, while providing our patrons with high quality entertainment.
Mr. Ngwira also said that MUTHE seeks to do this in an intimate theatrical setting, promoting a close, immediate connection between audience and performer, with the emphasis on the narrative and performative, rather than technical values. Our goal is to provide our audience intellectual as well as emotional stimulation, and to focus on issues of contemporary social and political concern that go beyond the psychological drama of the individual.
MUTHE is based at Mzuzu University, where it is committed to making first rate theatre in a city where culture and the arts have traditionally found it hard to survive and serve this multi-cultural community. Membership for the theatre group is open to members of staff and students as well as other outsiders who have passion for theatre. MUTHE was officially registered with Mzuzu University's Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Landson Mhango on 27th March 2008 by its Trustees. MUTHE is now in the process of putting the group on track. The group has been officially launched by Sir. Boston Soko and Prof. Muzipansi Shumba on 18th May .

Mzuzu University TheatreHeights Ensemble simply “MUTHE” is Mzuzu University’s second theatre group. Its a society for anyone who loves live theatre be it acting, directing or simply going to see shows. MUTHE will be introducing extensive programme of shows throughout each academic year which will be staged in a number of venues in Mzuzu as well as some areas. Additionally MUTHE will run regular workshops on a range of topics such as acting technique, directing and improvisation with the support of the Department of Languages and Literature. Therefore all Mzuzu University students and staff will be welcome if they have a passion for Theatre.
